Pete (Peachy) joined OULRC in October 1995. I remember thinking at the time, "what a lovely chap and he can row, excellent!" Pete was someone who just got on with the task in hand, trained so hard, was so committed and never missed a session.  He had a natural talent and a fabulous rowing rhythm; from the early weeks, I was confident that he would make the Boat Race crew, and he did. 

He was incredibly kind, thoughtful, calm and humble; even when he was utterly exhausted and probably very hungry; he always had the most wonderful demeanour about him. 

Pete was the sort of person you'd always want in your boat and by your side. I will always remember Pete for his beautiful smile and kindness.

As I said to some friends the other day, "probably the nicest person you'll ever have known".
