Team Pete - Olly Griffiths

Created by Nathalie one year ago
Unlike many others in the crew, my rowing career with Pete never quite started. The two of us had planned to take out a coastal double scull on a flat sea in Anglesey. But Pete had been feeling unusually unsteady on his feet that holiday and so we decided to wait until he was feeling better before going out. In retrospect, of course, Pete was displaying early signs of MND and we never did have that outing together. Pete being Pete the missed row and the unsteadiness didn't define the holiday. In fact they are some of my happiest memories with Pete: of long walks on the beach with a rugby ball, conversations that went to depths few others ever do and Pete's wonderful ability to see the best in absolutely everybody (maybe bar himself). So this row from Henley to Oxford will be a chance to have that outing with Pete, in a way, and also an opportunity to spool through a generation's worth of memories of one of life's goodies.
